Tuesday Time Saving Tips: Avoid Smooth Talking Telemarketing

4 min read

Although CyberCletch is not currently offering telemarketing services, I have made phone calls for clients in the past.  One of those contracts was a very successful FSBO (For Sale By Owner) calling service.

You may be surprised at the techniques I employed to garner the success I had, because they went against the advice that most sales trainers provide. Advice that suggests you role play until you are able to comfortable with discussing the promotion of your product.

What I found is the less smooth my introduction was, the higher the chance the person would take time to talk to me.  I’m  not suggesting continuous stammering but ensuring your presentation is NOT canned was the ticket.  It also helped when I was calling “on behalf of.”  People were more likely to take the time to talk to me because a clerk is less threatening than the “salesperson”.  My connection rate was nearly 100% when I got a live person on the phone, and more often than not, I had a hard time getting THEM to hang up!

Try it and let me know how it works for you!
