Tuesday Time Saving Tips: Love is a Many Splendored Thing

4 min read

You’ve heard the advice, “Do what you love.”

Is it possible? Yes.

Is it possible to do it and support yourself? Perhaps.

The concept is that if you enjoy your work, life won’t be such a chore, and you’ll be more successful as a result of your happiness. But let’s face it, every job has tasks, people, or procedures, that we don’t love. Our jobs, our environments, & our passions are multi-faceted – which can also equate to multiple opportunities for splendor in our lives.

If you’re unhappy with your current work situation and your finances won’t allow you to make drastic changes, invite more meaning into your work life by introducing a task that feeds your passion. It will put energy in your step and those distasteful chores may take a little less time to complete.

A few weeks ago my son dragged a long forgotten box out of our basement. It was old clippings from years I wrote articles and took photographs at a small town newspaper. I was immediately transported back to how much I loved interviewing people and learning about their lives. I wondered if I could re-introduce that passion into my current work.

The result is a video interview that will be posted later this week. Not only do I get to do something I loved, but it’s saving time by creating content for this web site.

Motivating and time saving. Love is a many splendored thing.
