The Columbus Team Rebuild with Custom IDX Solution

The Columbus Team is a top-producing, high-profile real estate team located in the Columbus, Ohio region.

CyberCletch has been managing The ColumbusTeam’s online presence since 2004. We were initially called in to design a website that a developer was creating for them. We’ve handled their website, SEO, content creation, social media, and many other tasks ever since.

This is the 6th major website update we’ve managed since that first project. Each update has improved their online presence by taking advantage of new branding or technology, including converting to WordPress.

This most recent update moved them from a WordPress theme with customizations and external IDX (listing search system) to a fully customized website with integrated IDX.

The design changes are a result of our Discovery project, after receiving feedback from the team, past clients, and first-time website visitors.

Before & After

Six main pages were completely redesigned to a custom format. Along with the home page, we designed a new Team page with individual profiles that allows visitors to relate and connect to the team member of their choice. We also designed a new testimonial system that could be filtered by agent, buyer, or seller.

We integrated all listings from the Columbus Board of Realtors to be displayed on the site, as well as, filtering out the team listings. Each listing page appears via the IDX feed and is designed to allow for custom information to be added, including brochures, videos, and links to communities and school district pages from their website.

Previously, all listings were manually uploaded and the information was added. Status changes were manually adjusted, and 30-60 images were deleted after the listings were sold. This all happens automatically now.

Case Summary

After managing The Columbus Team's online presence for 16 years, I was surprised at how much more I learned after going through the Discovery process with them! Discovery provided clarity on the team culture and reputation. Their desired legacy is much more than helping people buy and sell houses.

Interviewing their clients provided little gems, such as how their community involvement impacted past clients' decisions to work with them. We now display four of the charities they are regularly involved with on the home page. It links to an entire list of their community involvement.

User testing was insightful, too, as we watched first-time visitors navigate the previous site on video while sharing their thoughts. Not all of them understood it was a REALTOR site, so we knew we had to provide more clarity above the fold within the first few seconds of the page rendering.

All data collected during the Discovery process became integrated into a wireframe. Once our designer reviewed the wireframe, he beautifully blended their branding with cutting-edge design, keeping it classic enough to stand the test of time.

We simplified the customer journey by reducing distractions at the top of the page and focusing on the main call to action.

We added listings and open houses for the entire central Ohio region, the team's featured active listings, and past sales.

Each listing pulls information from the MLS (IDX), we added a website to each listing that displays nearby amenities including schools and shops.

We built reusable blocks for a customized newsletter signup and graphical links to their primary buyer, seller, about pages.

Built with speed and SEO in mind, we ensured it received a 95+ rating by Google. The website is mobile responsive as well.
